The Lanthorn was a student-run publication at Grand Valley State University. After having worked as a layout designer for a year I became the layout editor, in charge of all the layout components of the paper. I was in charge of creating graphics, overseeing the layout team, and working together with the other editors for each bi-weekly paper.
I attended a workshop in Minneapolis, MN and a news conference in Washington D.C. to learn about newspaper design and make needed adjustments to the layout and design of the paper. I also created a flag that could be used in place of the logo and expand the paper’s brand presence.
